MEDAL PROTOCOLS
- The PNG Medal has two different faces. Applicants who served in 1 PIR or 2 PIR are advised to have the PIR Emblem facing forwards. Applicants who served in other Units are advised to have the Crest of the Defence Force facing forwards.
- Current advice is that eligible Members may wear this Medal on the right side of the chest which is the Association’s recommendation. To follow the advice from the ADF, this Medal is not to be worn on the left side of the chest on official occasions because it remains unrecognized in Australia. (Rare exceptions are approved by the ADF.)
- All Members will be informed if there is any change in the official status of this Medal.
